Spoiler: this movie is amazing! you should watch it knowing nothing! I won’t directly say any spoilers however for the best experiencing you should go in blind.
This is my first David Fincher movie (I know, I need to watch Fight Club). I can really see why he is known to be a legendary director. His direction style is so unique! Each shot looks like a photograph, it is a truly visually beautiful movie. However there a very few if any, long tracking shots. This is mainly due to the pace of the movie being extremely fast; there is just not enough time for them.
Ben Afleck Stars as Nick Dunne, a writer who one day comes home to a crime scene. He then he realises that his wife (played Rosamund Pike) is missing. This is where a murder mystery like story begins, as the police investigate the disappearance of his missing wife. The following story constantly turns and twists; this movie’s direction changes each time you think what is going to happen next. This movie is beyond unpredictable.
Time to talk about the main antagonist of the movie (I obviously won’t reveal the identity as it’s a mystery). The person who does it is one of the best psychopaths I have ever scene on screen (paralleling Nightcrawler). They are so realistically done, and on appearance is not intimidating, however the personality is terrifying. This villain will make you shiver. you feel unsettled ever time they are on screen.
The soundtrack is great as well, it is seamless with what is going on screen. I would often forgot that their is music going on. It sounds very different to anything you ever heard, and is indescribable.
The acting of all the cast is superb! Ben Alfeck is great in this movie (proving he will be a great Bruce Wayne). The relationship between the sister (played by Carrie Coon) and Nick is a really realistic portrayal of siblings. They are really great together and you can feel they care for each other. Nick’s wife played by Rosamund Pike is one of the most unexpected performances. It is fantastic however the character does make a significant change and is deeply layered. The actress accompanies these changes perfectly. All these characters are fantastically done!
To conclude, the direction is fantastic and the cinematography is beautifully captured, and is all the performances of the cast is perfectly delivered. This movie is must see. In le comments tell me, your opinions of the film if you have seen it.
