Since being in lockdown due to a certain pesky virus, I have decided to learn the 3D animation software Blender. I followed the tutorial by Blender Guru. He's very detailed and comprehensive so I'd definitely recommend him as a good place to start if you want to too.
The first step was to model a doughnut. I created the base of it initially then duplicated the top of it before solidifying it (this made it extrude from the bun). I'm addition to this I am using a subsurface scatter modifier in order for the icing to retain a bit of light just as human skin does.
The next step was to use a particle system to create the sprinkles on the icing.
I created a variety of sprinkles varying in shape and length, then set it to randomise the colour of sprinkle. After this I textured the bun. I then used procedural displacement to make the bun have 3d texture.
Following this I modelled a cup and saucer using a picture as reference.
I then added materials to the cup and saucer while creating a liquid texture.
After this I modified the liquid material to look more like coffee
Just for fun I quickly made a spoon and used a stainless steel metal texture.
I then composed my scene and rendered a video of my project. It only took 5 hours to do 😲😲 That's cycles for you 😂 I'm gonna try use Eevee as much as possible instead in future.
