After realising that I have not updated my website in yonks, I have decided to go back on my showreel and begin reviewing what I have created. This could be a nice way to look back on my adventure of becoming a filmmaker.
The moment I decided that I wanted to explore film was after creating the fake trailer to the film, False Detective.
It is a goofy film with no logic and lots of copyrighted music. We just made it up as we went along and it honestly was some of the best fun I have ever had. There really is not anything like the feeling of being on a set. Quickly after creating this dumb lil trailer, I decided to take Media Studies at A-Levels, which leads me onto this music video...
Durin AS-level we were prepared for A-Level by being instructed to create a music video for a selection of songs. The one Ben I decided on was "Summer Romance" by The Red Walls. The song connected to us.Not sure why but it did. Not long after being given this task we noticed that it was raining outside, and we were like "yo lets just go film it now". We filmed it over the course of a lunchbreak, walking around the park next to the highschool and just being moody. Considering it was filmed on like the original moto e, it does not look too awful. It does help we slapped a cyan lut on it and called it a day. To be honest, all things considered, it came out pretty well. The teachers said that if it was actually marked it would be a B. Not too shabby for something we filmed in half an hour with no prep.
You can watch it here
PS. during writing this, I realised I can centre my videos... time to fix that on my other posts...
Let me know what you think of it. There are lots it could be improved on. The main complaint was there was a lack of a story. The teachers said we should have had a moment where he walks out and the sky is now clear. Maybe next time. Maybe when this is not filmed on a potato camera...
PPS. It is strange to think I worked on the music mideio over three years ago and that trailer four years ago...
